Pro Tools 4 Freezes.

wHEN I LAUNCH pRO TOOLS 4, IT LOADS UP THE COMPONENTS UNTIL IT arrempts LOADS THE dae. On the Bottom of the splash screen, it sayd launching DAE , and then it freezes., i have tried a reinstall but to no avail.

i dont know why it wont start up, any suggestions?

DAE is an application : do a search on DAE and you will find it, and you can allocate the memory there.

ok found the app DAE, and it fails to launch for error type 9

is there away, to uninstall it before i reinstall, im not fluent with the power Mac so be gentle.

Power Mac? You might want to check compatibility to make sure PT 4 will run on the hardware you have. PT 4 is pretty ancient now, and your computer might be too new for it. I don't know if PT 4 is even on the Digidesign compatibility docs anymore.

Also, you didn't mention what Digidesign hardware you were attempting to use.

PT 4 or atleast 4.3 will run on G3's so power mac should be OK. The satndard cure, in those old days, was to throw out the prefrence files. In the "system folder" there should be a "preferances" folder, in side that you should find one or two PT prefrence files and I think a DAE pref file. Throw them away and empty the trash. You will loose some preferances, so you should check settings when PT opens again. The pref files themselves will be automatically created if an app doesn't find them so you can always throw out prefs. I would also sugest updating to 4.3 if possable since it was stabler than 4.0, however if your on a Nubus Mac then I think 4.1 is as far as you can go. But PCI power PC should be able to go to 4.3.

ok, 8.6 is the OS, but i got it working. thanks for your help guys.
the DAE that was being used was 5.1 and it had to bethe original.
