Do I HAVE TO BUY the hardware that digidesgn sells to use it?

I am hoping I can use a PCI ADAT card with the software..

Will this work or not?

Yes and No, respectively.

You need either Digidesign or M-Audio hardware to use Pro Tools (or Pro Tools M-Powered).
