Input monitoring issue
Hi,
I'm running Pro Tools 12.8. I've got an issue with the audio monitoring that I can't solve. I am hearing all input audio even when I have no tracks record enabled. It doesn't matter if "set record tracks to input only" is selected or not (little green box labeled "I" ). I am hearing the input audio regardless. I've tried it with Low Latency Monitoring on and off. Didn't seem to matter. I would like to only hear a tracks input audio when that track is record enabled. any ideas? Any help on this would be appreciated. thanks! -Mike |

Re: Input monitoring issue
Welcome to the community.
Honestly not sure how native systems work. I assume it's what you are using. Do you by any chance have an aux in the session with a hardware input?

Re: Input monitoring issue
Or does the monitor software of your audio interface „play“ the input signal?

Re: Input monitoring issue
There could be some basic concept that I'm not understanding.
I have a Presonus Studio 192 interface connecting to Pro Tools 2018.3 software (Windows 10) With a mic connected to a PreSonus preamp, I can hear an audio input signal coming out of the mains even when I am not running Pro tools. So I'm not sure if pro tools or a specific setting in pro tools is the problem. I've just downloaded the Presonus Universal Control monitoring software and I'm hoping using that will fix the issue. Any thoughts? |

Re: Input monitoring issue
That was it. Installing and using the STudio 197 UAC software was the answer.
Now I can monitor using the UAC and control the volume of the input audio. And I elimnate the record latency by muting the record enabled track in pro tools while I'm recording. I still don't fully understand low latency monitoring or the record operations settings and how they are supposed to be used. But I'll play around and try to figure it out. thanks! |

Re: Input monitoring issue
Here's an old trick that might work for you:
With "Link record and playback faders" unselected, you set the fader to -inf in rec mode, and -0 in non-rec mode.
