Default Questions to Allenstein Machine?

Hey Everyone

I've been searching and searching the DUC, but I can't find out what to do. I just recieved my new Allenstein, and tomorrow I'm gonna put it together. I just have a couple of questions to whom I found it difficult to find the answers:

1: I have 2 Sata harddrives. Where do I connect them? Fasttrack or just SATA 1&2 (on K8V deluxe)

2: I found a couple of threads explaining to download a driver and put it on a Floppy? Can anyone explain?

That's all.... hope you can help me

- Rune

Your choice. Press F6 during windows install. Load divers found on CD thru floppy drive. Option #1 which I used Promise controller driver SATA378(set up IDE mode in Bios). Do not use Fastrack driver which is for raid applications only. Option #2 use VIA contoller SATA V220e(newest version found on VIA site) drivers use for both raid and non-raid.

Download a driver? Interesting. Missed that. Curious about the answer, too. I just got my Allenstein parts delivered today. I don't have a floppy......

I found the following in the readme.txt

2. Install Windows NT 4.0, 2000, XP, or Server 2003

* Copy all files and directories of DriverDisk\SATA folder to a floppy disk. Make sure
following directories and files are copied into floppy disk.

A:\
\2003IA32
VIAsraid.inf
VIAsraid.sys
VIAsraid.cat
\Win2000
VIAsraid.inf
VIAsraid.sys
VIAsraid.cat
\Winnt40
VIAsraid.inf
VIAsraid.sys
\WinXP
VIAsraid.inf
VIAsraid.sys
VIAsraid.cat
Txtsetup.oem
VT8237

* Boot system from OS installing CD-ROM.

* Make sure VT6420 BIOS is executed by the system BIOS when POST.

* Press "F6" when OS installer starts running.

* Insert floppy disk.

* Choose the OS device driver wanted for loading.

* Install OS.

* Run setup.exe after OS is installed.

now, to locate a floppy disk...that is the difficult task...

I found this site invaluable when buiding my KV8 with A64 3200+. amdmd.com and click on sticky post for K8V. Fills in all the blanks not explained in manual.

Hope this helps.

Hey everyone

Thanks for your help. It helped me a little step further. But really think that it's confusing installing the SATA drives. Haven't tried it yet but are gonna do it tomorrow.
If someone could guide me to a specific guide (or just write 20 lines on how you did it yourself) it would really help. I'm sitting with my Allenstein in my hands and I have tried putting many computers together before, but these SATA drives are really driving me nuts!!!!

And I think that Asus has done a terrible job explaining how to do it. I still haven't figured out whether to go with SATA 1 & 2 og the Promise Fasttrack controller. And I can't figure out the difference!!! As I said......: People who bought and putted the Allenstein together, would you just write how you connected the SATA drives!!!

- Sorry for being desperate, but I really want my Allenstein ti work too!!

Yes, I just put mine together last night but need to troubleshoot. We're in the same sinking ship

I connected mine using SATA 1 and SATA 2. That was it. Just plugged one end into those and the other into the HDs. The other controllers seem to be for RAID or Promise setup, which, as far as I know, I am simply not doing.
