Default Macbook Pro+lion+PT9 :-( / iMac+Lion+PT9 = :-)

I have one Macbook Pro (Bought 2010) and one iMac (Bought 2008) The beta update is working ok with the iMac but not with Macbook Pro. Anyone else with this phenomena?

I think, (as so many others already have said) that it´s poor that there isn´t a update that is working. Have heard rumors that there is a PT 10 on the way. But that can´t be the reason for not having a working update for PT9.

What to do? i am depending on this to work. I installed Lion on the iMac first so that i would be sure that it would work.. how silly of me.. and to install Snowleopard is NOT an option!

You're going to need to provide a lot more info if you want any troubleshooting help with the Macbook Pro issue. Just saying "it doesn't work" isn't nearly enough.

Hm I could of course paste the crash report. But I don't think that would help.
It doesn't work, pretty much says it all. It doesn't load up. It will not start.

In the crash report does it indicate thread 0 or another thread as the one that's crashing?

Protools 9.0.5 should work with your Macbook Pro and Lion (It works on many other's). There must be something different with your system. At this point I would suggest formatting the hard drive and installing a fresh copy of Lion and Protools 9.0.5. It is really the easiest way to clear out some unknown problems or settings. If that still doesn't work, there might be an issue with the hardware (RAM?). Hopefully that is not the case and a simple OS and Protools reinstall will fix the problem.

Yes that would be a good thing to do, if I only had Protools on the computer. However that is not the case. And therefore not a solution. I could of course try to reinstall protools.

Have you tried the troubleshooting 101 tasks, trash prefs and databases and fix permissions?
Also when the macbook was updated to 10.7.1, was the combo update used or the software update? (I always use the combo update)

Unhappy Re: Macbook Pro+lion+PT9 :-( / iMac+Lion+PT9 = :-)

Hi guys I wondering if you solved the macbook pro,Lion with pt9.05beta.

Its well weird. It works fine on my macro. In fact Ive been using it error free for around a month now. I go to install it and run it on my macbook pro after a clean install I might add and it crashes on opening the application. the following error report may help someone who may actually understand these things. I do not have a clue why this weirdness is occurring. Bring on the new update but in the mean time if anyone can help I would massively appreciate it I really need it running on my laptop and it would suck having to go back to snow leopard. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I understand. Try reinstalling Protools and see if that works. If not, it would point to something else in your system causing the problem. (Wi-fi turned on, Bluetooth turned on, incompatible plugins, anti-virus program, driver issues, ilok/pace driver issues, other conflicting programs, etc.) It is hard to troubleshoot it if we don't do a fresh install and check it after each item is installed.

Perhaps a good way to proceed (at least this is how I would do it) is to get a new hard drive in an external firewire or USB enclosure. Install Lion and make it your boot drive. Install Protools with the interface drivers and ilok/pace stuff and test it all first. This way you can always go back to your original drive to get your other work going if needed by simply changing your boot drive.
