Default CPU overload no matter what!

Hey guys Ive recently set up my Macbook Pro with a Mbox Pro. Ive used an 11rack as my interface for years but thats in another city now. I never had htis problem with my 11R. Ive tried recording today using BFD 3 as well as real DI audio and randomly the sound will go super "8 bit" sounding and crackling. Really terrible quality. Regardless itll still play without error messages but every now and then one does pop up recommending I increase my buffer size which is already at full cap at 1024. Could really use some help! Here are my specs...

Macbook Pro early 2011 16gb ram
2.3GHz intel core i7 processor
Graphics - AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB

Recording to an external with hundreds on GB left

Pro Tools 12.4.0

ALSO all my system usage is great. Nothing is peaking whatsoever.

44.1 - 24bit

In the PT aggregate does whats checked in regards to drift matter? also clock source?

I've got the same model Macbook, and all of my Avid plugs run super slow despite having no CPU overload. Basically running the same 16GB setup as you. My research says this is just a wonky macbook to run with PT 12. tried my Waves plugs and they run just fine.

Other than that maybe you have a bad connection from your interface to computer?

I know that doesn't really help much but i hope you can get it resolved.

Pro Tools aggregate? What exactly are you trying to aggregate? There is likely the problem. Try using the interface directly as the playback engine. And try using built-in output directly as well. Are they both stable?

Uncheck ignore errors in the playback engine dialog while doing all this so you see any AAE errors.

If that is not it...

Is the Mac fully optimized every last thing done?

What exact standard troubleshooting steps have you tried, esp. Trashing prefs? Removing all third party plugins etc. under "help us help you" up top of every DUC page.

"External disk" tells us nothing useful. What exact make/model/spec disk? Connected exactly how?

OS X version? El Crapitan?... Well bad mistake.
