G4 upgrade owners, how do you like it with Pro Tools and Soft synth's?

I have a G4 400mhz Agp. Computer can not handle Pro Tools and Reaktor at same time. Anyone do the upgrade for this combo or Protools and Soft synth's. Big difference?

I thought about doing this upgrade instead of buying a new tower. I do not think I am going to Os10 for a bit and could save a bunch of money and put it towards a Powerbook.

Pro Tools 6 options do not seem to justify all the expense for a new computer so I could use dual processors. I am also wondering since Apple owns emagic if they are going to release a new powerhouse computer with the G5's that are optimized for audio or some spectacular new option.

1 GHz Powerlogix upgrade card. $489. Many heavy plug ins with 32 tracks, and soft synths. No prob. My box started life as a G4 AGP 400, now it is smokin' fast. Also 704 M RAM.

Hey Chris,

I purchase the Sonnet 1.0Ghz upgrade about 5 months ago, and it breathed new life into my old G4 400Mhz. I'm rockin once again without having to change out all of my hardware and deal with buying a new computer untill the G5's come out in the near/distance future.

Get an upgrade card. YOu need it. Face it. Working around the limitations of your current system sucks.

Word on the streets is you can get the powerlogix dual 867 for around 700 bucks if you work the sales guys

Well worth less than double the price of a single chip.

If you can afford it, go for dual processors.

And then when the new G5 comes out, you will be able to "wait" for the 3rd generation or so (maybe QUAD chips) because you will have a dual machine

My 2 cents or make that 4...
