So now that 12 is out with no significant new features but a few tweaks, what is the best policy for those who wish to put safety first when it comes to upgrades? Stay on 11's upgrade cycle, or migrate to 12? Is 12 really the same inside as 11 with new bolt-ons eventually?

Can't say "stay on 10" as bcwiz said, unless you have RTAS that hasn't made the jump to 64-bit AAX yet, then if you have 11 stick with 11. It's a known entity. Despite its flaws, I have found PT11 to be pretty solid - far more solid than 10.3.x ever was for me.
OTOH I see basically nothing in 12 worth upgrading for. I'll hold out as long as I can without buying the "annual upgrade plan" to see if they do something worthwhile. The cloud stuff has zero value to me, and the only other addition appears to be in-app purchases in the form of plugins on the Marketplace. Like I don't get enough of that garbage on my phone. Gonna have to try harder, Avid - I can't even recommend PT First to audio n00bz, with its 3 project limit cloud-only save system. The first time somebody has their year-long upgrade plan expire without an actual worthwhile upgrade becoming available is the day people riot in the streets. |

Don't worry, I still use 10 when 11 goes pear-shaped and will continue to do so. But 11 works well for the rest of the time. The question remains - is 12.0 really just 11.x?

Do those several changes increase the stability of Protools?
