Why won't LE initialize?

Why, oh why?????

Okay, I just got an older 001 Factory Bundle setup with an AMIII card. Running it on the following system:

XP Pro
Soyo875pe Mobo
2.8 800fsb
1.0 g ram
120 g sata HD

The rig came with 5.1.1, which won't load on XP. So, I dl'd 5.3.1. Installed everything, and it was rocking along fine. Ran great. This morning, when I tried to fire up LE, i get this XP message:

"Initialization Error.this program requires certain drivers, etc.. to start. Please reinstall or reboot system."
Rebooted. Nothing. Deleted software and files, removed all drivers, physically removed card. Rebooted, shut down. When I went to reinstall the software/drivers again, it didn't ask me for serial numbers. Is that normal? At any rate, the same problem occurred after total reinstall.

Tested the card with DigiTest, and everything seems to be working fine. As a further hardware test, I installed the standalone ASIO driver to use with Cubase SX. Hardware works fine. The only thing I did after the initial PT install was to install a virus scan. I removed the scanner as well before trying to reinstall.

Anyone have any ideas???? I am a PT newbie. I know I shouldn't be running on a system disk, but don't have the clams for another at the moment.

Try updating the Pace drivers at www.paceap.com These are required by PT.
