Default Is Digidesign dropping Mix system software development?

Is this true? Is PT 5.1.3 the last software version that will support Mix systems and every other update after that (PT 5.3.x) will be HD only?

Is Digidesign dropping Mix system software development?

I don't know if this is true...but...

This is a way to force peoples to continuously put money on bell and whistles.

If they drop software updates for legacy systems, they make BIG mistakes because there are only a minority who upgrade fro HD systems.

It wouldn't be a good buisness tactic for such a large userbase who still have PT24, MIX systems.

HD or not there are lots of ameliorations to bring to this software.

i seem recall some digi rep saying here that mix support will continue for at least a couple of years.

if they do stall out at 5.1.3, they need to tell us NOW. we would like to upgrade to HD, but the time isn't right. this would be a VERY important element to consider in making our desicion, though.

Well we know the move to make DAE part of the PT app is part of the port to OS X... we also know that RTAS and TDM plug-ins have to be rewritten to allow for this change in the DAE...

This (to me) indicates that there will not be support for the Mix systems under OS X.

If our Mix + Mac's are only assisting with screen re draws & audio suite crunching, (oh alright, I suppose RTAS stuff too - whatever...) what the hell is going to be "so amazing" about OSX PT anyway?

Splain me that somebody please.

Liberty Livewire just bought, what, 200-300 Mix systems for millions of dollars. I haven't seen one HD system in any major post studio, and they are among the biggest Digi clients. I'm sure that Mix systems will be supported for a long time.

The big deal, as I see it with OS X is dynamic memory allocation and multiprocessor support.
