Default S6 "MTMApp encountered a problem" message

Has anyone encountered this message on their S6?

« MTMApp has encountered a problem and needs to close »

When this message is cleared, the TFT screen goes black, so I haven’t been able to go further - I can try retrieving the Crash Report, but if anyone has seen this and knows of anything I can do myself to get the S6 running again ASAP, that would be great.

I wasn’t the guy at the console when this happened, so I don’t know precisely what happened before the crash, but it happened during an upgrade from S6 1.2 to 1.3 so I’m guessing, but not assuming, it’s connected.

Thanks!

This sounds like a problem occurred during the S6's system software update.

I would strongly advise doing nothing until you talk to Avid's technical support or your dealer.

But, you may try following the procedure outlined here:

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/h...System-Restore

(My own opinion entirely, but given the date of this notice, I'd guess a bad update or installer may have made it "into the wild"...it happens...not the end of the world)

You should also take a look at the information under Troubleshooting / How-To in this document:

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...vid-S6-Support

You might also consider "bookmarking" both of these articles in your web browser for future reference.

Good luck...

I do not work for Avid (their loss)...my only relationship with Avid is that of a customer (when I'm not too poor to buy stuff, like now)...and that hot administrative assistant...that's more of a "thing" than a "relationship" (that should keep them guessing for a while...)

Just rockin'...what more is there?

Oh, truly sorry about this. You might try the restore pen drive packaged with the S6 and then try the update. Talking to an Avid guy seems the best idea to me. Good luck.

Hi Bill, hit Tamas,

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, that's the kind of thing I was thinking was going to be necessary ...always hoping for a miracle though!

Very much appreciate your responses!
David

I had this happen a few days ago when opening a plug in (I believe). I rebooted the console and everything was fine.
