Default need a little help making monitor choice

Hello all, I'm finally getting ready to purchase a new set of monitors. My choices so far are Genelec 8050a's and DynAudio BM6a. Is anyone using these monitors with good/bad results?
I know this is a very subjective topic and one mointor choice may be good for some and not good for others and of course the room has alot to do with it.
The last couple of years i've been purchasing great software products but i have never upgraded my monitoring situation ( i guess a classic mistake) My current Maudio BX8's just don't seem to translate well and need to be upgraded. Thanks in advance for any advice ,suggestions

well i've never worked with the 8050a's but at the studio where i am interning now my boss has the 1031a's which are the older version of the 8050a's and they sound great.

and I just got new monitors as well, i got Event Studio Precision 8's, and my old monitors are MAudio BX5's and I must say that it is so important to have good monitors because when I a-b the 2 monitors it just shows me how bad the maudios are when i used to think that they were pretty decent.

I havent done a side by side comparison but I would deffinatly say that the Events sound close to the Genelec's.

If you have the money I would deffinatly say that the Genelecs are a really good way to go, but I am not saying anything good or bad about the Dynaudios because i've never heard them. I just wanted to put in a good word on the genelecs

thanks Matt. I read the 8050's are very similar to the 1031's but the 1031's are a little stronger in the low end. bigger speaker. i am looking for a accurate monitor more than anything else, thanks again for your input.

I just purchased the JBL LSR4328PAK and am very pleased with them. Give them a "place in the mix" when you go take a listen.

hello Rick,Jbl's look interesting. Have you checked your mix on other systems after mixing with them. Do they translate well?

i find the new 80 series genelecs a bit disappointing. i use 1031's in conjunction with my NHT Pro A-10's all the time and they rock. i spend a lot of time on the 1031's and use the NHT's as a reality check because it's easy to get lazy with the 1031's. they're quite a flattering speaker.

i recently had the opportunity to try the 8050's up next to the 1031's and i wasn't really that impressed. they probably had less of a 'hump' in the upper bass range but overall they just didn't sound as good to my ears. (keep in mind that monitors are a very subjective thing.)

another studio i work out of occasionally has BM6A's. they're pretty decent although not as good in the lows as the 1031's. they tend to overload a bit more easily but overall are a very accurate sounding loudspeaker. if i had the need for three sets of monitors, these would be my next choice.

i just discovered i made a little mistake in getting my prices for the 8050's I thought the $1,800 were for the pair. My salesman at GC informed that was for each speaker. I don't think i can warrent spending 4,000 approx. for monitors . Looks like the dynaudios bm6a's.
