I just moved my 001 system to my new G4 dual800. I believe the PCI card is picking up computer noise and braodcasting it thourgh my 001. When I scroll windows or double click a drive, you can hear the actions coming through my external speakers. However, the headphone output in not affected. Also, when I have Pro Tools open (5.1.1) and check the system usage, the PCI meter is always in the red. Sometimes my playback audio is stopped and I have to click stop on the transport and then play again to get the audio back. This system used to be in a beige G3 tower and never did any of these things. The only difference is that on the G3 I was using 5.0, when i moved it to the G4, I updated to 5.1.1 Any other Quick Silver users having problems? I have sent a technical support request to Digidesign and am awaiting their response.

So is os 9.2.1 a goody or a baddy?
Or should i stick with the trusty os 9.1?

9.2.1 is hot, I'm running it on all my machines now. It seems to be more stable and manage memory a bit better than 9.1. I'm very impressed with this update, perhaps my favorite since 8.6.

No problems at all with PTLE 5.1.1.

I'm running 9.2 in the new G4 867. Tried to use, for the most part, the extension set (text I had saved) from my other G4 400. However, I had problems with freeze ups on window resizing and such. So I went to "Mas OS All 9.2" and added the Digi & OMS stuff, and cut out AppleTalk, FileSharing and Internet. It's been great so far since.

Now that 9.2 is shipping with new macs as standard, does this mean that 9.2 is definetly worth upgrading or are there still unresolved issues to be taken into account?
any other people who have just upgraded,
i would really like some feedback.
Thanks again.

Cane,

I'm running 9.2.1 on:

a G3/350, 768MB
a G4/450, 512MB
a G4/500, 768MB

All with various IDE drives. All were previously running OS 9.1. I run PTLE 5.1.1 on all these systems using Digi001's.

Nothing bad to report with the OS upgrade. Things appear to launch a bit faster and I definately don't get system hangs as much as I used to (these usually happened when dealing with microsoft office products).

Hope that helps
