Awesome! But do you really need 16 spaces All Jokes aside, I inserted 32 when I first installed TL space, and I still had room, then I thought, why even go farther. The speed limit is 100 km/h, and I can already do 500 km/h
Whats even funnier is I now want to get the 290's when they are out, and I want 4 gigs of ram. Will this slutty gear lust ever end?
Kris, it's pronounced GAS, having a bad case of GAS, getting GAS, etc. That's Gear Acquisition Syndrome to the layman.

Hey, out of you guys who haven't put their system's online, how are you authorizing XP Pro?

filosofem
Phone.

Shane
There's no way around that no matter what...so yes, phone or make the connection...same as with iLoks... (you can use another system to authorize your XP as well as iLoks from what I remember)

Hey Bodie, thanks for the informative reply. I have installed the Digi SCSI card (that had been in my G4) and the Quad recognizes it (didn't even need to add drivers). But since I don't have my Apogee Ambus cards yet (only have one). There's no way to really test the Cheetahs with my Hybrid system.

I'm thinking I should try to find the most recent Win drivers for the SCSI card but haven't a clue where to find them...

anyone?

I don't think a Quadzilla Hybrid Forum is really the answer. While this thread has become very unmanageable (no one will read it all the way through), it will work just like Allen's Best Desktop/Laptop threads.

As long as Allen keeps an eye on the first page with all the specs and links for drivers, Newegg, etc, plus the basic install guidelines, we should be fine.

Having said that, a lot of the 41 pages of the Quad thread deal with the development and testing issues (all of which have been resolved). It might be a good idea to condense the thread and remove all the references to the 500 Dverb counts, etc - because someone will read that and think they can get 500 Dverbs....or maybe just extract the messages that are still relevant and put them in a new thread....?

I think Pasanta is using two 9500s in a rack case
...and Pasanta's using two 9500's on a ASUS mother board?

I wonder if they're LED or AM2. I know we had trouble with both 7700 and 9500 LED.
7700 because of diameter dimensions and 9500 LED because of height dimensions.

We'll hear from Pasanta shortly.

Filosofem,

Yes, I have 2- 9500s in a rack case. No, I have the Tyan board.

My rack case is 7 inches deep or 4 standard rack spaces. I have the LEDs; not the am2s.......although both are the same height.

I've emailed you pictures.

Ahhh... Tyan, I've had to stick with the Heatsinks that came with the CPU's, the ASUS board, just doesn't have enough room, for 7700's and I have height restrictions with the 9500's. Point is, without the height restrictions, would 2x 9500's fit on a ASUS board? JC seems to think so, it may not be as simple as that.

Or just write a basic FAQ...I was contacted back by one of the mags, I'm writing an article this weekend, so having the definitive how-to is going to be useful.

At some point I'll update the first post with all vital info in the thread including how to build the Asus system etc. Just been out of the loop for awhile doing some huge productions. All on the Quad of course. It's flippin' amazing having a rock solid stable system. I dont have any attention on the computer for once. And that's the way it should be.

Quad on.

Shane,
I'm amazed that it took you this long to get a stable system with the AMD/PTLE combo. Must have been all that messing around with overclocking in the past that created the unstability. I've had a stable system ever since building my first AMD/PTLE machine but then again it was on 5.3.

Hey did you get a chance to check out this on the Mac side?

Keep in mind that the more amazing numbers in the various threads have not necessarily proved accurate. 140 seemed to be more typical from the first page but I haven't made it through the entire Quadzilla thread yet. Hey, it's long. Someone should do a spreadsheet. I tried the 24bit/48K/95%/1024 Dverb record/stop/play/stop on my two gig Quad and got 165 Dverbs. This was all from one audio input (5) and included one additional aux track all output to Analog 1 and 2 for three minutes or so.
Looks like someone needs some De............. well you know what I mean.

Allen
