Does touch automation work for MIDI
I've been looking at doing MIDI touch automation with no success. In the non-MIDI world it's pretty easy: arm the track, start rolling and change only what you touch. If you don't touch anything, then nothing changes.
That doesn't seem to be the way it's working in MIDI. I'm testing with a lane for a MIDI CC. As soon as I start to roll, the previous values are overwritten. I'm not touching a thing. It's acting like a regular "Write" mode instead of touch. Somebody's doing something wrong. I've narrowed it down to Avid or me. Anybody know which one I should blame? Re: Does touch automation work for MIDI
I think the answer is that it's me and not Avid. MIDI Merge mode seems to do it!

If I'd seen this sooner I would have told you to use MIDI merge. That option preserves what's already on the MIDI track while you add something else. I've done exactly what you described, adding some CC or other using it. Nice feature. Glad you figured that out.
