midi not working with 6.1.1/XP

Hi-

My Midi in/out for 3rd party applications is not working. I'm running 6.1.1 with ASIO 6.1.1 I've tried everything (install/uninstall- MME refresh etc) and it just doesn't work- even though the 001 is recognized as the MIDI device. Does anyone know what the problem is? I'm at my wits end.........

You should fire up your hardware a couple of minutes in advance of booting up your computer.......not after bootup.............dog

I think it's system specific. Midi won't work properly on my system unless I power up the keyboard first. Conversely, if I turn the keyboard off with the computer on, it causes some weirdness with my system - meaning I have to turn the keyboard off after powering down the computer.

mommama: Is your system working better now? If not, can you provide more details of the problem(s) and whatever you've done to fix it.

BTW: I've always heard that you should power up everything else before booting up the computer.

Thanks for the help. I'm not using the Digi 001 for Midi in PTLE, although I recently did try to import MIDI into PLTE and got all "Grey" midi blocks - and they didn't play. Also, no MIDI files play on my computer. There is something fundamentally wrong with my MIDI set up but I don't know what.

Mainy I need the Midi i/o on the 001 for sending Sysex messages. I make sound patches for roland guitar synth stuff as well as the Vox tonelab. I need to send.receive them.

I have two programs which are supposed to work with the machines. The Vox program says "check the Midi setup or conncetion of your device" on startup. The roland program just doesn't work for dump recieve/transmit. Both devices however, SEE the Digi 001 as my MIDI in/out. Cables are OK. It's not fixed by putting the machines on before the computer. Any other ideas? MIDI is definately set up wrong but how can I check this?

PT Midi interfaces will not work with the Tonelab editor nor Line6 editor. You will need a chaeap Midiman Uno or something for that. I don't know why.

The grey blocks are because you have set midi view to see regions instead of notes.

Hi,

The 001 sent sysex messages before in my earlier PT version with WIN ME. No Midi files play on my computer - even through the media player. How can I check if Midi is set up properly? I'm sure it isn't................

plug a keyboard controller into the midi in, create a midi track, rec enable and see if the midi travk meter activity.

I also Am having the problem that i can not get my midi functional with PT 6.1.1 Win XP.
I can create a midi track, set the input as the digi 001 port, but i get no midi activity on the channel!
Is there something that any one else knows about this problem?
I am going mad
I can no longer sync up my second machine with Nuendo 2 using MTC.
There has to be a solution to this!
It all worked fine with PT 5.3.1
