Default RIP Neil Peart

I've been fortunate to have been exposed to so many incredible and inspiring bands/musicians throughout my life, and Rush is at the top of my list. We spent thousands of hours when we were teens playing La Villa Strangiato, Jacob's Ladder, Xanadu, Bastille Day, Freewill, Red Barchetta, Natural Science, Anthem... lucky for us our drummer was the best musician in the band! Honestly can't imagine where I'd be musically or professionally without them. #sadbutgrateful

This really caught me by surprise, very sad news indeed. Rush has been part of my life since I was in high school in Cuba. My favourite albums are Presto & Hemispheres. Neil's musicianship is unrivaled

Sad news indeed.

Rush @ Pinkpop 1979. I was there. It was a magical experience.

As a Neil Peart fan and drummer this just hit me like a ton of bricks. His drumming was beyond compare. And his instructional videos are aces. Here's a link to a FoxNews article: https://www.foxnews.com/entertainmen...h-drummer-dead

Default *NEIL PEART* crushed

Good day everyone,

I heard the news yesterday around 2:40PM getting off work.

I always loved music from every genre, they simply pour out their soul in every note. But when an artist passes, or human, away my heart goes out to their Families, friends, and fans. But loosing Neil was different, and crushing, and I never felt it like other greats we have lost. Simply knowing his body of work, and a beautiful human being Mr. Peart is. Although now he's with the almighty king, and no longer with us.

I understand during their last tour Neil had problems doing a whole night's show but what we were told was he had some shoulder issues because of the reach of his kit. Turns out it wasn't that but something more serious.

I've played so much Rush back in the day and it definitely shaped me as a player. Farewell Neil Peart, you will be missed.

Default RIP Neil Peart

For thanksgiving, my wife, younger son, and I drove clear across the state to Seattle to spend the day with my older son, daughter, and grandkids. Nowadays I prefer driving in silence but I was in a mood and on the round trip there and back I listened back to back to seven Rush studio albums beginning with “A Farewell to Kings” and ending with “Power Windows”. The last Rush song I listened to before learning of Neil’s passing was “Mystic Rhythms”.

I find the closing chorus to be apropos.

Mystic rhythms capture my thoughts
Carry them away
Mysteries of night escape the light of day
Mystic rhythms under northern lights
Or a canopy of stars
We feel the push and pull
Of restless rhythms from afar

Neil Peart. A mystic of rhythms.
