external midi sequencer + loop playback

hi everybody

i have just bought a doepfer maq 16/3 midi sequencer and I have set it up to sync with pro tools as a master via midi

i got everything working but if i set pro tools to loop playback a section of the song, the midi sequencer won't restart at every cycle of the loop, i have to manually stop and restart the playback

am i missing something obvious ?

still trying to find a way around this. i have gone through all the pro tools preferences regarding midi and i am starting to feel unsure this is something that can actually be done, would be great getting advice by someone more expert
