If i'm to continue with pro tools Dont I need an hd core care to be able to get 16 I/O? is thee another way around this??
I'm ready to buy an HD card [pci] for my mac g5..but I'm hesitating after reading all this info...
I understand the native computing thing but there's no hack to make the digi 002 or 3 for that matter
give you more outputs to the Lynx

I'm in nyc and it's pretty much pro tools territory here. People don't go to one studio from start to finish so portability is a major factor to survival.
thanks
The M-Audio Profire 2626 will give you all 16i/o with the Lynx, and when you are using Logic, you will have 24 i/o. You need the $250 Pro Tools M-powered for using PT with the 2626. The only hitch is you have to work at 44.1/48 when using Pro Tools that way...with Logic you can run at 96KHz or even 192KHz no problem using the 2626 + Lynx.

Not good for the people out of work though.

Ok..so I get the profire and hook that up to the digi002r and the lynx?
for 16 channels? I hate being chained to the digi 002..can I just use the profire and the lynx [probably not]

Also will this config sound better than the digi oo2? and the lynx?
thanks

You sell the 002 for what you can get for it. You won't want a 002 when you hear the 2626.

Bingo I went to a small show recently and spoke with some AVID/DiGI representatives...

1) They appear to be clueless about their competition
2) The employees were almost incompetent at demonstrating the tool
3) They think they have solved every DAW problem until I guy like me shows up and says "suppose I wanted to do this...."

It really is concerning when you evaluate DAWS like Reaper, Record and StudioOne and put together an analyis of options matrix and expose the cost/ benefit relationship of achieving comparable results.

But this condition goes along with any solution, which means there will always be pro's and con's.

I hope this is not a crazy question, but will the AD/DA Converters and Mic Pre's on the 003r be better than the 002r?

WELCOME to the DUCZ!!!

With this question being asked in this thread,
I am inclined to say no.

Thanks Keybeeetsss; I just wasn't sure if I should upgrade my 002r. I hope digi comes out with a new Control Surface/Interface thats universal..
