Default Using DIGI 002 and 003 in tandem

Does anyone know if it's possible to connect the two DIGIs for additional I/O using PT 8?
If so, how would one go about it?

Thanks
Mony

Use the Digi 002 in stand alone mode (only works with the Console 002 not the Rack 002) and feed the ADAT out into the 003 ADAT In. Neither model of the Digi 003 has a stand alone mode so you can' t go the other way.

Read about stand alone mode in the 002 Guide.

For a more detailed discussion it would be useful to know exactly what you are after, more total inputs, more mic preamps, etc.

Hi Darryl. Thanks for the reply!

I am seeking more total inputs. So this cannot be achieved at all with a DIGI002 rack?

Nope, this is a common question/point of confusion, the 002 can do this the rack cannot. And you can't aggregate these interfaces.

Your Options are buy an ADAT/SMUX preamp (the Focusrite OctoPre being a common low-cost recommendation) and send that that into the 003 or buy a whole new more capable interface.

Yes indeed. Actually, the options for lightpipe preamps are many and prices run from $200, on up to $3K. Here's a list of some in order of (estimated)price:
Behringer ADA8000-$200(sounds about the same as the 002)
Behringer ADA8200-$300( better preamps)
Presonus D8-$350(many Presonus units work, but the D8 is the simplest to use)**
Focusrite OctoPre Mk II-$450(better still)
Focusrite OctoPre Mk II Dynamic(same as above, but ADDS 8 OUTPUTS)**
Midas XL48-$900 (very nice indeed)**
Focusrite ISA428(w/digital card)-$1500(very nice 4 channel with 4 more A>D to handle any analog preamps)**
Focusrite ISA828(w/digital)-$2500(nice, but expensive and 8 of the same thing, for that much money.....maybe not a great idea?)

Those with ** are ones that I have owned and used a lot(still own XL48 and Mk II Dynamic. ISA428 is now running analog
