Default Tuner for guitar, + some other questions...

Basicly, just got Pro Tools lately, an mbox2 package, its very very nice, but, wondering if there are any plugins that can be used as just a simple guitar and bass tuner? I know that the version of amp... comes with a very basic tuner, but I tried that and to be honest was not very happy with it at all

Just something simple like "AP Tuner" would be fine, as a plugin in protools ?

Also - as I am "new" to Pro Tools, I am still getting my head around plugins within PT... There is NO way to use VST's ??? Or ???

Sorry for such silly questions, I know they are rather "simple" but, maybe someone can answer them!

Regards from "down under"
By the way, anyone else here from Perth ?!

Allhexx.

Pro Tools comes with the Bomb Factory Essentials tuner, which can be found in the plugins menu under the category of "Other". Honestly, it's not much better than the one in amplitube. None of the software tuners are. I would not recommend any software tuner over a dedicated hardware tuner.

To use VST plugins, you will need to purchase the VST to RTAS adapter from FXPansion.

Thanks, I will look into them, I'm just too lazy at the moment to get a proper nice guitar/bass tuner... I tune to "standard D" for the metal stuff I am doing

Cheers for the response too (quick reply!)

Looking forwards to getting more comfy with PT

i use antares autotune as a makeshift guitar tuner sometimes. just hit the string and if it's fixing your pitch up or down, you know it's not quite on yet.

???...that's a pretty strange way to tune a guitar, but if it works for you. I think the amplitube 2 tuner works great, and I own a strobe tuner. Just my 2 cents...

it was just meant as another alternative that works. i use a boss tuning pedal most of the time, but if i'm just doing demo stuff, it's way faster than messing with that in the moment. just add a plugin, tune, and remove it. ::shrug::

Not an RTAS plugin, but highly accurate tuner software...Strobosoft by Petersen (www.strobosoft.com). As accurate as the hardware-based virtual and real strobotuners.

Can you use Strobosoft as a plugin in Protools? or more importantly can you use while PT is open?
