MBox conflict with Belkin USB UPS?

I cannot run the MBox after installing the Belkin UPS software and connecting the UPS to my computer via USB.

I get a message "Digidesign hardware is in use by another application. (-1133) when I attempt to start ProTools LE 6.4.

I am running OS-X 10.3.9 on a single 1.8 GHz G5 with 1.5 GB RAM. I also had the same error on a G4 PowerBook running OS-X 10.3.7 if the UPS monitor software was installed. I solved the PowerBook problem by removing the Belkin USB software as it had been loaded there only for evaluation. I don't particularly wish to remove the UPS software from the G5.

After unplugging the MBox and rebooting, the "Sound preferences panel" still shows the Digidesign HW ( MBox ) as a choice, although the system profiler does not report the Mbox as connected. The UPS has a product ID of 2322, while the MBox has a product ID of 4096.

Does removing the UPS driver allow you to launch Pro Tools?

If so, then that is probably the only solution. You may need to contact Belkin to let them know their driver is interfering with other devices on the USB bus.
