Default No solution to Xpand not finding it's files?

So I'm on PT12 on a Mac running Mavericks. Is there really no way to get Xpand2 to remember where the content files are? i've tried every solution found online, and the PT knowledge base basically says, "Yeah, that can happen for a couple of reasons. Sorry."

Anyone have any luck getting this to stop/ I'm so tired of, upon opening sessions, having to go and re-link Xpand to it's files, and then re-select all the patches for each instance.

Just curious,
Eric

I don't know the solution to this issue, but until you have one, you could use track freeze or track commit in the meantime as a workaround. At least that way you'd have your synth track intact.

Where are you telling the files to go? Are you letting it pick or are you picking?
Just brainstorming.

They're in the default location. And I keep pointing it to them, but as soon as you close PT and re-open, it forgets. So you have to re-link every time.

This pretty much sums it up. "However it can happen that the plugin doesn't "remember" the path to that file and prompts the user to locate it again and again."

Did you read this thread (post#37 and post #54) ? I posted lots of info so it can be a bit confusing (but detailed), but to sum up :

Try to find ALL *.plist files related to Xpand (ie : com.airmusictech.xpand.plist, com.digidesign.xpand!.plist, etc *) in both Mac OSX's Preferences files AND User's Preferences files, and check that each file does contain a location path for the library. If one of those doesn't have any path (or a wrong one), it is probably the culprit one.

There might be lots reason for this issue but, for sure, one of those plist file is not correctly updated (either because of a wrong filename or because of bad permissions preventing Xpand2 to update this file).

Anyway, with Maverick, you cannot edit a plist file directly, you must first copy the file on your desktop's folder, then edit it (with TextEdit or TextWrangler), copy it back to the correct Preferences folder (+enter your admin password), and reboot the mac.
(Note : Pro Tools must be closed when you edit the plist file.)

* filename's character case may be important depending if your system drive format is HFS+ Case-sensitive or Non-case-sensitive.

Thank you for this! I thought I saw a reply like this earlier yesterday, but then last night I couldn't find it! This seems like a hopefully promising solution! I'll try it shortly and let you know.
