Default Digi Download Manager

Having had a lot of problems with downloading upgrades from DD in the past, I was pleasantly surprised with PT8. That was a lot of content, but the new java download manager did a great job.

I'm looking for a download manager for large files for my site. Is the download manager a third party product that was customized from DD, and if so can you tell me where you got it?

Microsoft TM (R) (C) (P) uses the same downloader for Windows 7, so it can be purchased somehow (or is it freeware?)

Thanks. I asked the question in the Windows 7 Q&A forum but haven't received an answer to far.

Does anyone remember whether you have to install the Digi downloader, or whether it can work as an applet and you don't have to install anything. I don't remember installing anything, but I could be wrong.

The Sun Java Downloader looks pretty good, but it has to be installed.

you can only use it when the site uploads its files to their website. you then download from that website and not Digi or MS. so unfortunately we cant use it for any download we want, i think the company is akamai or something similar.

As I said originally, I'm looking for a downloader to help people download files from my site.

If I'm not mistaken, it's an option available from Akamai:

Thanks. My business isn't quite in the league yet that I can outsource the downloading to Akamai. I guess I'll have to make do with the Sun Download Manager.
