Grouping
Hey anyone, i have protools h.d and i just grouped two mono kick drum tracks with the same e.q. Settings each. Is there a way that when i make a change to one kick drum e.q track it will change on the other track?

Re: Grouping
Nope...U can easily copy the settings which is the smart way to do it after u get the 1st kick track the way u want it...

Re: Grouping
Oh yes, there is.
Each group in ProTools can have its own set of parameters (attributes, in PT-speak) that will be ganged. One chooses which parameters to gang when creating the group, but these can also be modified at any time. Since you already created the group, you will be editing. Right-click the name of the group in your group list panel (on the left of either edit and/or mix window). Select the “Attributes” tab and enable “Controls” and/or “Bypass” for the desired insert slots on your tracks. Done. IHTH.

Re: Grouping
yup, andre is correct. In HD you can link plugin settings with groups (as well as other things).
The shortcut to get into the modify groups window is Cmd+Cntrl+G, or you can right cilck on it as Andre mentioned.

Re: Grouping
Thanks guys this seems to work well on tdm plug ins only. But i also use a uad1 neve plug in & it does not seem to follow well as far as grouping the way you all have described above. Any suggestions?

Re: Grouping
You could bus both kicks to an aux and then process that I suppose. It seems odd to me that you could have two DIFFERENT kicks and want to process them exactly the same way.
Is it a double kick from a kit? Steve

Re: Grouping
Just apply gain to your kick track. That's what duplicating does, nothing else.

Re: Grouping
What I'd do:
Set the outputs of Kick 1 and Kick 2 to "Bus 1". Create an Aux track. Set the Aux track's input to "Bus 1" All audio from both Kicks will now route through this bus track. Now, you simply put any plugins you want both kicks to share onto the Aux track. This does mean that any of these plugins will be "After" the plug-in's on the original Kick1 and Kick2 tracks, though- so if you wanted to EQ them the same, and then compress them separately, you can't. You could compress them separately on their individual tracks and THEN EQ them on the Aux.. anyway, I'm rambling. You get the idea. Nolly |
