Default Playback Function Causing Pro Tools First to Crash

Hi, I'm brand new to the site. I just recently started using the Scarlett Solo Studio kit and have been encountering a frustrating problem with Pro Tools First. Every time I use it, the playback feature at some point will stop working. It will basically look as though the time is only advancing in milli-seconds and the feature will not respond to any intervention on my part (can't use stop, pause, play, etc.) Oddly enough, I'm able to save my work, restart the app, and continue working away until it happens again. I also encountered a somewhat similar issue when I downloaded a copy of Adobe Audition. In that instance, the record feature was unresponsive. Their tech support troubleshooted it and it was apparently an issue with the cache that was the culprit. Not sure if it would apply in this case. I'm currently using a six month old Dell Inspiron (Intel Core i5-9400, UHD Graphics 630), Windows 10, Scarlet Solo (3rd Gen 2-In 2-Out), and Pro Tools First 2020.9.0. Any idea how I may go about fixing this problem?

Thanks,
Craig
