Default switching to 44k without restarting?

Hi all! I have PT 12.4.0 and an MBox 2, running Windows 10.
Every time I start the computer up the default sample rate is 48k. To open sessions in 44k I have to unplug the MBox, restart the computer, change the rate with ASIO, then restart while plugging in the MBox.

I go to Control Panel/Sound and the properties for the MBox are only 48k, and I can't change it in the Control Panel.

Any help?

And I can't open a session with another sample rate, the button is greyed out when opening a session or new session.

Make sure Windows Sound and other programs are not tying to use the Mbox for sound output. That is almost always the cause of this behavior.

Thanks. Not sure how to disable that, I have poked around the Sound control panel but don't see how to change that.

Control Panel>Sounds and make your onboard soundcard the default for Playback and Record.
