Default Firewire solved

FWIW:
Currently I am finishing an asus x-99a build which i will post details later.

I ordered the recommended siig nn-s20012-e2 FW adapter which did not work. I got a return and new card, still did not work. Windows 7 showed no conflicts, my LS56 showed connected but there was an odd conflict with the on board audio driver. When PT or studio one tried to activate audio, the on board audio would freeze and no audio in the DAW's.

I have to give kudo's to focustite for their efforts on an out of warranty LS56. They took remote control of PC for about 4 hours, put their best team together for solutions and could come up with NOTHING. ASUS service tried as well. This 1700.00 build was starting to scare me!

Out of desperation, i ordered a VisionTec VIA based FW card from walmart of all places....it works perfectly! Go figure

I don't suppose anyone tried rolling back the Windows 7 firewire driver to 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)...

Did you install the SIIG driver BEFORE installing the actual card? You should, or Windows will assign a generic driver, that probably won't work on that card.
