Default Selling 002 crossgrade question

I'm confused on the whole crossgrade thing....and I cant find a decent link on the avid website.

2 questions

#1 002 (purchased off a friend used 6 years ago/not registered in my name) using 7.0 software registered in my name. can I upgrade to 9 for $250

#2 If I sell my 002 (purchased off a friend used/not registered in my name) can I sell this system and can someone use it to upgrade to 9

If there is a link to answer these questions...please point me in the right direction. Thanks for your time!!!

You can crossgrade with the 002 for $249.00, (Provided no one else has used your 002 serial number for a crossgrade before you). But, since you got it 6 years ago, it is unlikely any one has done that with your's.

One crossgrade per qualified hardware. Therefore, it you use the 002 to do the $349.00 crossgrade, the person you sell it to can NOT use it again for the crossgrade (It is a good idea that you mention this to the buyer or else they will be pretty upset with you). They can still purchase the full PT9 for $599.00.

If you don't do the crossgrade (you can still buy the full PT9 software for $599.00), then you can sell the 002 and let the buyer know that they can still use it for the $249.00 crossgrade because you have not used it for that yet.

Since the difference between the $249.00 crossgrade and the $599.00 full purchase is $350.00, that will probably be the difference in the selling price depending on the ability to still use it for the crossgrade. In effect, there is little or no difference to you of the buyer in terms of total cost but it may be easier to sell to someone if they realize that they can still get the $249 crossgrade. There is just something psychological about getting a discount versus paying full price for something.
