Default NOISE/DISTORTION in PT

Hi - I'm new to PT M-Powered.

I have all my equipment connected correctly and have managed to get
through recording one song with multiple MIDI tracks. HOWEVER this took
FOREVER because I have a huge problem in that while I'm recording, after 15-30 seconds a distortion noise appears and I have to constantly exit PT and restart it.

I have disabled my network card, I've tried making setting changes to
buffers and other things, tried every suggestion I could find on the web.

Any suggestions here would be appreciated. If I could get rid of this
one problem I'd be good to go.

I'm running a laptop with Windows 7, MobilePre, Midisport 2x2
anniversary edition, a Yamaha keyboard, and am using the Xpand2 plugins for the great instrument sounds. I love Pro Tools!!

Thanks!!! Kathy

Which version of Pro Tools are you using?

Pro Tools in Windows 7 is still in beta - we're all waiting for a release from Digidesign that will hopefully fix a bunch of issues at the moment, one of them being strange white noise bursts among other things.

At the moment, the most stable setup is Pro Tools v8.0.1cs1 running in Windows XP with SP3.

Kathy, please go to the "help us help you" thread at the top of this forum and post a Sandra report as suggested there. Also tell us what version of PT you are running.

I am experiencing the exact same problem. I am running Protools M-Powered version 8.03 on a Windows 7 (x64) machine. Are there any updates to this problem?
