OMF from Premiere - Music has clicky distortion

I have been experiencing an issue when importing OMFs or AAFs from Premiere into Protools:

Often times, after importing an OMF or AAF from an editor using Premiere, I end up with clicky distortion in the music files. It seems to happen at the thickest sections of music, like kick drums, strong bass notes, etc. I thought that I had isolated the issue to when an editor uses an MP3 version of a music file in the edit but I can't verify that completely as I've had some variance where this was not the case.

Has anyone else been experiencing this? I noticed it in version 11 of Protools and am still experiencing with version 12. I'm completely up to date with Protools 12.8.3 and running Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6.

Got the same issue over here! Already any solution?
It's also distored when I open the OMF in Nuendo. So it could be a Premiere exporting Problem.

This is a bug in Premiere that has been around for quite a while (edit:) AND HAS BEEN FIXED in 12.0.1 according to the buxfix-list.
It happens when audio (usually popmusic) exceeds 0dB fs.
It doesn't look like Adobe as fixed this bug yet.

It took me an extra day of work to find and fix it.
I 'solved' it this way (in Premiere):

1 Duplicate your project
2. Select all audio clips and right click for the menu
3. Choose remove attributes (volume). This removes any volume automation.
4. Select and right click a single clip
5 Change volume to -6dB in the effects window (NOT the track volume)
6 Right click volume and Copy
7 Select all clips again
8 Paste
9 With all selected Right click and choose " Render and Replace..."

All clips have now been replaced with a lower volume file. This prevents the distorion.

BIG DRAWBACK:
NO handle length can be selected so there is no handle anymore to work with.
But at least it's not distorted anymore.
Advised for large projects with lots of edited music.
