Default Pro Tools 12.5 "Not Responding"

Since upgrading to ProTools 12 a few months ago, I've been having problems with the program "not responding" frequently during sessions. I'll be in the middle of playback, or even recording, and the screen freezes. If I try to click on something (like "stop"), nothing happens. Then, after a few seconds (anywhere from 5 seconds to as long as 45 seconds), everything comes back. Strangely, it keeps playing/recording without any problems while not responding. I upgraded to 12.5 since it is fully compatible with Windows 10, thinking that might be the fix, but the problem seems even worse now.

Pro Tools 12.5.2
Digi 003 Rack
Windows 10 - 64 bit
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor 3.40 GHz
8 GB RAM

I am also using a USB MIDI interface, but that is not the cause since the problem persists even when I disconnect it.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you have a click track with the click plugin, commit or freeze it and remove the plugin(most of us on Windows are getting 9173 errors with the click, but you never know)

Disable any floppy controllers in BIOS. And make sure there isn't a disc in your optical drive.

I have tried EVERYTHING. Whatever you all have suggested, I've done. Still no luck. I upgraded to 16 gig RAM, optimized everything, even replaced the motherboard. Updated all graphics drivers.

Thinking of either reinstalling Windows 10 or reverting back to Windows 7. Thoughts? Ideas? I appreciate your help.

I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!

I use Pro Tools on a PC that I share with several students. No matter who is logged in, the "not responding" situation is a problem and had been getting worse.

Instead of logging in on the network, I logged in as an administrator on the local machine. Problem gone. Now if I can just figure out how to get it to work right for my students who have to use their own network logins...

2 details that may help;
1-Always use the Run as Admin option when installing PT
2-right-click on the PT icon and select Properties>Compatibility, and check the boxes for "Always Run as Admin" and "Disable Desktop Composition"(this might need to be done for each person's login)

+1 Thats correct .

Freezing the click track plugin can fix ( or not trigger ) some wierd things on PT 12 .
