Default Apple's AMS Presets

Hi,

I'm just following some video tutorials on Pro Tools 10 MIDI setup, almost immediately the tutor opens the Apple audio and midi setup as he is using an external Korg Triton as a controller. After adding the device manually, he double clicks on the device and chooses the correct model and manufacturer from a list. I thought I would try and do the same with my devices and my drop down lists are completely empty? except for Mackie? Iv'e tried googling the problem but Im not getting the right answers. I am using a Mac Pro 3,1 2008 with Lion 10.7.5

Any help will be much appreciated

Hi,

When you create new device, you should be able to click on the icon top left and isn't there an "icon set" box where you select generic? then you should have the the icons for various midi devices. also to the right there's a list of device name where you can select different manufacturers etc.

Hi,

In system library / audio / midi devices there should be a general folder with the device images?

Is it there? if not i'll upload it for you and see if that works

Hi,

Sorry I should of said before, its not the images, they are all there, and the guy said on the tutorials you can add your own .tiff's. Its the actual list of devices, theres nothing at all in them except Mackie, no A-Z of manufacturers.

Hi,

I'm sure that's an OS thing and should have been installed with lion etc.

all i can suggest is trashing the AMS prefs system library / prefs

then run the "combo" updater for 10.7.5 and see if that fixes it

Hi,

Thanks for the reply again. Ive just been on my Macbook Pro 10.7.5 and there is no manufacturers or model presets either. Iv'e tried trashing the both preference files, and the MIDI config file but no joy. Its probably a silly question, but you don't think its because I have not actually installed pro tools 10 yet? The reason is that I am waiting for a student license. The video tutorials I am following shows the guy actually using Mac Osx Lion too, so where on earth have his come from I wonder?

Thanks

Haha, god I feel a right one ;-)

Well, thanks for your time anyways. You wouldn't know by any chance which folder and directory they install into?

Im planning on installing ableton live to at some point, will this install all the manufacturers fields also?

Thanks
