Default Erratic \"Solo\" Track Functionality

Hello,

Has anyone experienced erratic behavior with the Solo track button in either the Edit or Mix windows? The Solo track button behaves normally in most sessions. However, in some of my sessions, the Solo track button either doesn't work at all or it solos ALL tracks. I have checked the Operation settings in other normal behaving session with no luck in finding the answer. This seems very strange.

Thanks

TonyVT

Hi!
Check Groups, and also check to see if they are "greyed" out.
Either of these conditions would explain this in a heartbeat.

HI and thank you for your reply. I only have one group, (ALL). It is not greyed out. Also, I noticed that the Solo ONLY works on an Audio track and NOT a MIDI track. I must be missing some very basic here.

Thank you,

TonyVT

have you had problems with mutes too? there's a semi-known issue about mutes not muting properly. i don't think you're the first guy to complain that solo doesn't work right either. the mutes problem seems to be connected to rewire. are you running any rewire apps when this happens?

I've had some really weird glitchy stuff happen too. Closing and re-opening PT usually clears it up. Sometimes its operator error (in my case anyways!) like with a send or a bus.

Hi and thank you for replying.

No, I am not having any problems with the Mute Track button. The Mute Track button works on both Audio and Midi. The Solo Track problem that I am having will not Solo a Midi track, only Audio.

Lastly, I am not using any Rewire devices.

Thanks

When soloing a Midi track, you have to also solo it's Midi Aux track to hear it. Let us know if that was it.

Yes. You were correct. That was a dumb mistake. I am coming from the Cubase SX version 2 environment. I am still getting used to setting up an aux track to deal with the Midi.

Thanks again,

TonyVT
