Help Creating STEM please.
Hi Folks,
I'm running into a very odd problem. I'm working in PT 7.4 on an HDIII system, PCI, mac G5. I'm at the end of a project that has taken years. I need to mix a song down to a stem and having a strange problem. All the tracks are set to output to A1&2 on the 192 and there is a master fader with that assigned output. To create a stem I'm: 1. Create stereo audio track. 2. Select inputs A1&2 3. Output 3-4 (not used on the 192) And, I get NO signal on the audiotrack at all. Nothing. Not in record either. Even if I create busses on the channels I can't get any audio input to a track. I can assign Buss 20&21 on the channels and assign that as the input to the new audio track and can't a signal. I've never had this happen before. I'm inches from finishing a CD I've worked on for 5 years and this is driving me crazy. Can anyone help? Thank you! |

Re: Help Creating STEM please.
Why would you go in and out of the D to A's and A to D's when you can simply use Pro Tools' virtual busses?
Master Faders are by definition only Masters for their specific outputs. Rail

Re: Help Creating STEM please.
I'm Not. What I'm saying is I can't buss to a new audio track.
If I create a new track and designate it's input as Buss 49-50 and then create send 49-50 on my tracks no audio goes to the track I'm busing to. I see the meters sending signal on the buss but get no input on the audio track. |

I'm not sure what "check your voices " means. I have the session set for 32 and am not near that. Even if I set it for 48 I still cant send to the buss. Is that what you mean?

There is nothing strange about the problem, only the way you are going about it is strange. Do not create a send on all your tracks, just assign their outputs to bus 49-50 then on your 'stem track" assign its input to bus 49-50 and output to out 1-2 and rec arm it. Oh and change the master track to bus 49-50 |

Re: Help Creating STEM please.
Have you got the input monitor on (the (I) is green)? If not, it will not show the incoming levels. So if there is no audio region on the track, it will show nothing in the meters. It'll show the levels only once you are recording.
Is your Record Track put to solo safe? If you want to record stems, you are probably soloing tracks. If the Record Track isn't solo safed, it will not let sound com through. Command Clicking the solo button makes it solo safe (the Solo button then becomes greyed out) Timothy |
