Default Confused about HD Accel PCIe

Hello there,

first of all you have to know that i am fairly new to Pro Tools and i came across the HD Accel PCIe cards but i am quite confused now as i found two types:
The first one is a "normal" HD Accel PCIe which is labelled like that on the card and the second one is the HD Accel Core PCIe card, also labelled like that on the card. What´s actually the difference between them other than obviously the price?

Thanks for your answers.

HD Accel Core PCIe = HD 1, Needed for all other configurations.
HD Accel PCIe = add on DSP and I/O power.

Keep in mind you'll also need an interface like 96I/O to run PTHD, or X-Card torun it thru an Apogee interface.
I'm curious but as you fairly new to Protools why wouldn't you start with the LE version with cheaper interface? It's a very good starting point.Thereafter you'll still be able to make an Hardware Exchange.

Good luck

and if u have an older mac like a G5 then it will be PCIX and it will be much cheaper and still be good enough for most projects.
so u can get a HD1+the interface for about $2000-2500.
even cheaper is mix systems. they now sell it in craiglist with the G4 computer.
my friend got a Mix+system with the computer for $1000!!!! u see them in craiglist all the time.
just letting u know some of the options. u can upgrade from the PCIX-G5 to PCIe-macpro when u have more money.
