Default pros still using OS 9 exclusively?

I remember a thread that said if you want rock solid stability that you have to use OS 9.2 and so I wondered what PT version runs best on that. I am sick of crashes and want to go back to that OS. Anyone know which PT runs best for absolutely no crashes?

I'm not sure how XP would work for a Mac user but I just switched over to OSX on my 002 but I'm staying on OS 9.2.2 on my MixPlus3 for a lot of reasons. First off, I recently rejoined the User Conference because of this upgrade i.e. I was experiencing problems that only the user conference had answers for. The last time I joined I was updating to 5.1 and have'nt had problems since that I could'nt handle on my own, that was over 2 years ago! Now with the 002 and OS 10.3.7 and PT 6.7 there have been some issues. Nothing too crazy though. At the moment I'm trying to get the best of both worlds, OSX with Rewire and OS9 with the plug ins and stability.

Happy new year,

RS

Why not stay OS9, and buy a cheap soundcard (like an RME 96/8 PAD) and route the Rason audio out the ASIO drivers into the card, and AES / EBU from the card to your PT interface?

You can sync clocks, MIDI and the transport with IAC, and use the soundcard to route Audio back to PT.

OSX Panther is rock solid on my G4 Dual 1G. OS9 good riddance.

Frankly, all the people I know who are staying with OS9 are doing it because they don't want to spend the money to upgrade all their plug ins. I couldn't imagine working in OS9 after using OSX.

Great suggestion. I have a few different work stations running different versions. I'm using the 002r for writing and I just transfer all the tracks to the MixPlus for mixing, pretty basic.

I am in no position to make statements of an absolute nature, but OSX 10.3.X with ProTools 6.7csX has been as stable as anything ProTools-related I've ever used. And that's since version 1.

I hope this helps.

I just stuck an ACCEL card in with my original HD2 system & now I can't use Protools or the Digidesign control panel under OS9!?! is this a known fact? That ACCEL is not compatible with OS9? I need to be able to use Waveburner Pro in OS9 with the Digidesign ASIO driver but it is saying that the hardware is not available? BTW I use OSX 10.3.5 & 6.7cs5 & for the most part it's pretty solid. But I would still like to retain OS9 compatibility, for Waveburner... can anyone offer any suggestions?
