It's just because not everyone have these wicked fast Apple Mx series internal storage, where it really does not matter.

Back in the DigiDesign days we were given specs like "for X amount of tracks you need Y amount of 7200rpm hard drives with latency of Z milliseconds or smaller". Not anymore, you test how much disturbance your system can handle.

I'm on Sonoma 14.4. Didn't happen before 2024.3.

Thanks.

Yep I'm having the same issue. I have all the Mac OS "perks" turned off as well (ie continuity camera, handoff, etc.).

Very glad to report the crashing whilst scrolling has been fixed. :)

Hey all,

Is anyone able to confirm the Pace/iLok issue with Sonoma 14.4 is isolated to Silicon Macs only, or is it a Universal Intel/Silicon issue?

Thanks!

No, but Avid/iLok are investigating. Bear in mind, 14.4 is not supported.

I'm right at the point of deciding whether to install Sonoma and if it's worth it. I have an intel 2019 iMac 3.6 8 core with 64 gigs of ram. I'm on Ventura now and it's running fine. I'd just stay with Ventura but I also use Logic Pro and would like to upgrade that (which needs Sonoma). The question is, will I have any performance issues upgrading?

Check your audio hardware too. Carbon isn't certified with Sonoma (with known problems), as an example.

Upgraded to Somona 2 days ago, couldn´t trust my eyes (well, i use Carbon). Catastrophy. What a ********, surface-wise, performance-wise.
Latest Pro Tools and Logic run fine on Ventura.
I just downgraded to Ventura, everything runs smooth again.

The bit above where they mention turning off all the peripherals in Sonoma.
I bet a lot of folks will upgrade and forget to turn off all the Apple Bling (aka bloat).

Hi all, I'm getting this issue too. PT 2024.3.0 and Sonoma 14.3.1. Handoff is disabled. There's no camera on the machine. The flickering happens even when there is no tracks armed and PT is not recording, and happens when PT is not even playing back. It just happens whenever a clip is moved.

Edit: So I wrote that post with pro tools open - then posted it and went back to Pro Tools and no flickering. I wouldn't say the issue is fixed but seems intermittent at least.

Edit 2: Then after submitting my edit I go back to pro tools and the clips are flickering when moved again! WTF!
