As far as I understand this, the drives interface to PCIe and not between each other. Which means copying from A to B goes thru PCIe, and if the PCIe bandwidth is already fully utilized with one drive throughput, you're going to have to install another adapter card for another drive to make it happen.

Only scenario that I can think of where A and B would be linked without talking to PCIe would be RAID configuration, and even then data would not be copied between the drives.

I don’t know the maximum capacity of the pci bus, but one is read and the other one is write, so it should be absolutely possible to do this and further more absolutely possible at halved transfer speed in any case.

Ok, guys. The Crest card got here today and I installed it in the 16x slot the closest to the video card in my MacPro. Mojave 10.14.5

Boots just fine.

Before is with the 1gig 970 pro on an older card. After is in bay 1 on the Crest card. As you can see, we are looking at roughly twice the speed.

I popped an older ASHC card into bay 2 in the rest card and it works about the same as before, if anything actually slower.

BUT - I can copy files between both blades without a problem! Perhaps it works because the older card "only" gives around 1000 read and write.

I am noticing I need to run one installer at a time to have it be more stable. It varies from the plugin companies too. McDsp and Sonnox were the worst so far. Waves Mercury, tons of Plugin Alliance plug-ins installed without a hiccup. I too believe the full speed may be part of the problem. It’s may be running so fast that it’s tripping over itself. Just speculation though.

I sure wish Samsung Magician came in a MAC version.

That sucks! Is it worth just having one SSD in the Crest to test if it's stable?

Wow. Sorry to hear this. Maybe I'll just get single m.2 ssd pcie card. Not the dual switching model like the Crest.

I tried erasing both ssd drives in the crest and installing High Sierra on drive 2 and booting from it. I couldn’t get black magic speed test to run, it froze the machine. I’m ready to call it quits. Very frustrated at the moment.

I’m thinking the same thing.

Does anyone know of an adapter that holds one 970 evo ssd that will run at 3000 like the Crest did?
