I have the same problem with mine on my imac.

When my mac goes to sleep sometimes it loses the sound and it gets locked to 44.1Khz. What helps for me is to stop everything running (browsers, pro tools, etc) and then restart the 11R. Most of the times it works but sometimes i have to reboot.

It's very frustrating

Try turning off the sleep function. This is the recommended setting. You can still have your screen and hard drives turn off but the OS/Processors need to keep running to maintain communications with the interface and Protools.
