Default Midi Port PTLE 5.01

When I import General Midi-files into PTLE 5.01 for Windows, all portsettings are altered to No 1 (Digi001) and ignore all others. Have I overseen something?

Default Re: Midi Port PTLE 5.01

-As far as I know, the Std MIDI File spec only supports Channel (maximum of 16) assignments but does not support Port assignments.

-Type 0 files contain all MIDI data for all channels on a single track

-Type 1 (multitrack) files are contain MIDI channel data on different tracks.

Default Re: Midi Port PTLE 5.01

If I recall correctly, all of the SMFs I've imported are automatically assigned to the "default" port in OMS - whether that's port 1 or port 8. Because of that, I've assigned my "default instrument" to a GM module so I can at least audition the file quickly.

Don't know about PeeCees, tho'.
