Default the QuickTime wrapper failed to load

Hello,

I am getting this error message when I try to import a .mp4 from an editor I'm working with. This files opens fine straight into QuickTime and other .mp4s open fine in the same session.

"the QuickTime wrapper failed to load"

Has anyone had experience with this error? I haven’t found a workaround yet.

File Duration:
25:48
File Size:
408 MB
Resolution:
1280X720
Codecs:
HEVC, AAC

99% of the time, I convert any AVC and/or H.264 file I get into DNx or ProRes for compatibility and smooth performance in Pro Tools. Lots of tools out there to do this, I use Adobe Media Encoder, but there are free ones out there as well:

Thank you reichman,

I did covert the video which did solve the issue, I used quicktime as a fast export this time, but you bring up a good point that I may just add conversion in Media Encoder into my workflow.

Thanks for the tips

H.264 IS AVC. The problem here was the video was H.265/HEVC which Pro Tools doesn't yet support.
