Default Saxophone effect... how to?

Hi all,

Would anyone know how to achieve this saxophone effect? Which effects would you use?

I've tried Lofi and distortion to no avail.

Thanks in advance.

Not quite sure what you mean by "effect".

It's basically two saxophones playing together.

You mean the growl effect? If you are using sampled sax, you need to use actual growl or flutter samples. Trying to turn a softer sax sample into growl and make it sound realistic is not easy.

Thanks for replies so far.

Yeah, I get that it sounds like the same sax line played in stereo and with a growl but the overall effect still doesn't sound natural to me. Will try ring modulating etc.

No,

a Tenor Sax & an Alto Sax in unison.

Everything else sounds pretty natural to me - you can get some pretty crazy sounds out of a Saxophone.

If the short 'blippy' sounds are what is being talked about I didn't recognize sax at all. Sounded more like a kazoo. Whatever it is has almost all instrumental recognition taken out of it.

Personally, I think the sax is probably the hardest of all acoustic instruments to emulate with synthesis or sampling.

Which is why most brass libraries don't have sax. The only two decent libraries I know of are Chris Hein Horns sax library and Sax Brothers.

+1 for sax brothers, or anything done by Sample Modeling. I don't have their saxes, but I have heard some really good stuff done with them by other people. I do have their "The trumpet" library, and it is great, extremely easy to get a very convincing sound out of it.
