Why? It's been the parent company now for 10 years or so. Who cares? As long as they're not telling digi how to develop PT, I could care less.

And what makes you think they are not?

But your point is still valid.. They have been in charge for a long time already....

It has it's own intrinsic value, so yes, it will..

The recent announcement by AVID of combining all their brands incrementally over the next 2 years makes one a bit leary of what it really means, kind of like being leary of buying a GM car right now.
Digidesign has it's foibles, but there is no apparent upside for musician/composer users to a closer corporate "integration" (maybe for audio/visual users). A rose by any other name,... but let's hope digidesign doesn't lose what degree of small business user sensitivity and communication it has.

I suspect that Avid is trying to do better at competing with Apple. At some point Avid could become a takeover target for another company and having integrated branding will make it an easier sell. Also, in theory, it should be more efficient to brand and market 1 name than a half dozen.

They've started integrating Sibelius into PT already. If their aps work better in a more integrated way, they will be able to sell something equivalent to "the Adobe Suite" - .... it could be a good thing. - maybe....

At this time in history, this kind of a move could be interpreted by some as a desperate act. But only history will tell the tale.
