Default Can I get MBox 2 mini drivers without ProTools?

Hi everyone.
I recently purchased an MBox 2 mini with ProTools only to find my system does not have enough RAM to run ProTools. I only have 512 mb RAM and Protools requires at least 1GB RAM.

Since I cannot run ProTools I am looking for a way to use my MBox another way such as through the program cubase, but to do this I need to setup the MBox with drivers. Is it possible to do this somehow without PrTools and get these drivers somewhere?

Better Yet is there a version of ProTools I can get that will work on 512mb RAM?
Thanks for the help.

Yes, with the ASIO drivers.

The ASIO drivers are installed by default when Pro Tools is installed, so if you have Pro Tools installed, you already have the drivers you need.

If not, you can download them HERE.

Also, RAM is super cheap these days; have you considered an upgrade? Depending on your specifications and requirements, 1GB can be had for as little as $10us! (sure, it can be as high as $50 depending on your system, but really...)
The latest version of Windows (Vista) will barely run on 512MB of RAM!
I'm guessing you have XP?

Are there drivers like that for Macs? If so, where can I find the latest ones?
The drivers that came with my ProTools 7.3.1 (back when I had a PC) are crashing my new Mac and I can't afford to upgrade my ProTools. I want to use my MBox2 with my Sibelius 4, but when I use it, it will sporadically crash the whole machine.
Thanks,
Cicada

Thanks alot, I downloaded and installed the drivers.
So yeah I might upgrade my RAM, good idea.

Are there any versions of PT that work with only 256mbRAM?

What you need is the Core Audio driver (there's standalone versions for every Mac OS).

More importantly we would need to know your system specs and details about the 'sporadic crashes', as it seems there's something else wrong besides needing the Core Audio driver.

No.

Yeah, which was the point I was trying to make. A memory upgrade would be much cheaper time-wise and headache-wise than trying to "find a version of Pro Tools that will run on 256MB", and it will help with so many other things.

Default Re: Can I get MBox 2 mini drivers without ProTools?

I am very sorry for bumping this thread as it's the one I got from my search experience.

I own a MBox2, formatted my computer and lost my Pro Tools CD (bought it over 4 years ago), which is not a big deal as I didnt use Pro Tools alot. The thing is, I cannot get any working drivers for my MBox2 now. . .
I tried to install the driver found on this page :
http://archive.digidesign.com/download/audiodrivers/xp/

But for some reason, it's gonna stop midway during installation.

I use Windows XP. Just ask if you need anymore info. (as long as it doesn't imply my credit card)

Thank you for your help and sorry for the bump once again!
