Default Add Markers During Record?

I am making the switch from Cool Edit Pro to Pro Tools LE. In CEP, I can add "markers" during record. This is helpful to visually identify what sections of a long voiceover narration to keep and what to delete when editing. I know I can create markers in PT during playback by tapping [enter]. Can I create markers during record?

You can add markers to your audio tracks on the fly.

To set a marker, Press the Enter key on the number pad. It has to be the enter on the numeric part of your keyboard, not the one on the alpha part of the keyboard.

A dialog box will pop up with several marker options.

You can name your marker for future reference, then just accept the rest of the default settings and click on OK to set the marker.

A yellow marker will now appear over the track.

Once you've set a marker, you can move it to a different location in the Timeline by clicking on it and dragging it to a new point on the Timeline.

To modify a marker after making it, just double-click it.

That will give you access to the same dialog box options as when you first created it.

Hope this helps

Click in the marker timeline, hit tab. Or, apple+5 (numeric keypad) and just click through your markers. Or to go to marker #2:
. 2 .
(numeric #s)
To set a marker as marker #2:
. 2 enter
(numeric keypad)

That doesn't work very well. Having a dialog box pop up during record means it takes several actions to create a single marker. Not efficient during record when markers need to be added every few seconds - to mark good (or bad) voiceover takes. Is there a single-shot method of adding markers during record? Or is there a better way to flag specific points in time on the fly during record?

There should be a setting in your preferences to auto-name markers. It'll name in sequence of "Marker 1" "Marker 2" etc... No dialog boxes.

Looks like that does what I need. A little misleading though as the preference says to auto-name on playback (nothing about record). Thanks.

Hit the Enter key twice. The first Enter inserts the marker and brings up the dialog box. The second Enter accepts the default settings and closes the box. I hit the Enter key twice so fast that usually the dialog box never really appears on the screen, but I always get my marker.

when I hit Enter on my keyboard it stops the recording...(and this happens whether I hit the numeric or normal enter key)

Have I got a Preference set wrongly somewhere?

Many thanks if you are able to help - I have a long voiceover session booked in tomorrow and the client needs markers (he also wants me to export a wav or aiff that includes the markers - if anyone knows how to do that I would also be grateful!)

THANKS!
