Hopefully this move by Apple will encourage digidesign to bundle some very basic realtime plugins which no DAW should be missing, i.e. a basic tremolo plugin, this seriously grates me, i used to use the nomad freebie but that went out the window with the intel macs.

Cheers

What an incredible value! This is amazing. They have it in stock at the local Apple Store. You get so much for your money. They include features that we as PTLE users have got whacked $400 and $1000 for.

I agree, i think Digi need to be worried about this one. It has virtually everything that Le and the music production toolkit offer for an absolute fraction of the price, probably even a lot of the DV toolkit stuff too. I for one will give it a whirl.

Cheers

I'm going to assume that my 002 desk ain't gonna play nicely with this. I checked out the manuals regarding control surfaces and I must confess that I don't really know that much about Digi's stand-alone specs. But I do recall seeing quite a bit of threads related to incompatibility with 7. But for some reason I want to say that in theory it should work. Maybe I dreamed it but doesn't the 002 stand-alone emulate HUI?

I gotta tell you I really like what I see on this thing. My biggest complaint with Logic was the workflow, stoopid nomenclature and poor editing. Looks like 8 addresses each and everyone. I really like the user interface/screen arrange.

Also, with regard to "it's just a GarageBand Pro app" dig. I say, what about it? If you've ever played with Garageband, you find a LOT to like about it. Damn Sam this thing's plug package is just friggin' sick. I might be tempted to go with a Duet and purchase of Logic 8 Express. Hmmmmm.

everything is going usb anyway. Who needs traditional midi? Remember this is for portability. I Don't think you'll be dragging out a korg triton or anything. M-Audio Axiom and soft synths and you are good to go.

It still doesn't have Beat Detective or Audiosuite-like capabilities, but it does have PDC, Freeze tracks, and LOTS of tracks available. At $499 new, it gives a whole new meaning the idea of bang-for-the-buck in DAW software. Digi will have to throw in a few more AIR instruments to match it in value.

It may not be a PT killer, but it definitely makes DP and Cubase seem overpriced - or under-featured.

The same goes for PTLE. For the price of an add-on (MPT) you get a full featured sequencer.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too but, why use two USB ports when one will do. Would that put a strain on anything?
