I totally agree. I regularly do post working with DV files and it's a pain having to convert the files first just for the sake of the preview window.

I think if you have QT pro, you can either A, just drag the lower right corner up and in to resize in some apps (not sure about PT6)..or...B) open a copy of the DV movie..in QT pro...resize by dragging the lower corner..and then..save. Use this movie to to import into PT. (it still plays out full screen to external).

At least..that's how it worked in 5.

QT pro is 29 bucks. Basically..you can order it direct from apple....they'll just email you an unlock code. In your quicktime settings control panel...there are pref options for streaming speed..etc. One of those is "register". this unlocks QT pro.

Hope that helps

In QT you have to change size and save (you dont have to render the resize)> then import to PT

Thanks for the tips guys.
I have Final Cut Pro 2 which includes Quicktime Pro. I have it installed on a different drive to Protools but I'll give it a go.

As far as i can tell, it's simply not an option. I've never seen a grayed-out option, just a window.

I've always created a smaller movie for the sake of having a smaller window in PT. Maybe there's a technical reason you can't resize it. If not, I'd be upset too. Tis an inconvenience.

I'm having the same issue this morning. I've got a 360 x 240 Qt movie that I can't resize and it won't pixel double and fill my second monitor either. I assume this is because it's 360 and not 320. Any ideas on how to fix this?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Well, under the movie menu, there's an option that says "window aspect ratio"... I guess by definition that wouldn't resize the window how I need it... Anyway, it's greyed so who knows...

I can believe it! You can't resize the video playback in PT???
