Default Re: Best System for PTLE for under $1000.00

XP1700 at Hyperspeed:
Found these reviews at www.newegg.com

Not a bad little chip for the money. I picked up a Epox Nforce 2 MB and some Kingston HyperX 3000 DDR along with the XP1700.

AXDA1700DUT3C
JIUHB0311MPMW 1999 AMD

Its a 1.6v Thoroughbred ? Not sure if its A or B.

It clocked to XP 2200 speeds with stock voltage of 1.6. I pumped up the volts to 1.72 and she is stable at FSB 185 x 11 = 2035Mhz (XP2600+) speeds.

I probabably could tweak more and get even more but I feel I have reached the point of diminishing returns on further overclock.

N/A,6/15/2003 9:34:46 PM

Running on an MSI K7N2G busted it up to 166 with a 12.5 multiplier puts me up to 2.08 or a 2600+ stable as all hell.

LOVING IT! To bad its not my computer hahahaha

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2nd timer,6/14/2003 3:34:34 PM

Bought my first xp+1700 B core (JIUHB) back in January, It was unbelievibly overclockable. It reached 2.31 GHZ (11x210FSB) with a nForce2 mobo.

This time, I bought the same chip again. It was again unbelievibly overclockable. It reached 2.31 GHZ with better price ($41 vs $47) and lower temp (44C vs 51C at load). You couldn't go wrong with Newegg and AMD. Nothing but a happy customer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

N/A,6/14/2003 1:13:04 PM

Well, after reading all the reviews here on this cpu, I had to try one for myself. I am running an Epox 8k3a mobo and Corsair XMS pc2700 ddr, set at the most aggressive ram timings (2-2-5_ 1T, cas 2) Previously I had an unlocked an XP2200+ cpu and could only get it to 2400+. I got this xp1700+ today and it is the JIUHB, DLT3C model. It is factory unlocked and the default core voltage was 1.5v. Within 30 mins. I now have this cpu running comfortably at 168x13, or 2184 mhz. which is XP2600+ w/ the core voltage at 1.6. This is w/ a Speeze Falconrock $9 Heatsink and Fan!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

N/A,6/13/2003 8:50:03 PM

Got in on one of these. Newegg sent me a JIUHB 0319 DLT3C. That is the 1.5v version that overclocks like a XXXX. Running at 2.1 GHz at default voltage right now.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

N/A,6/13/2003 6:31:24 AM

I can't believe I had any doubts about this processor. Received a JIUHB and running perfectly stable at 2600+ rated speed (2083 (12.5x166) on a L7S7A2. That's just my first attempt too. I definitely haven't discovered what this processor can really do but at reaching 2 ghz right away, I'm very happy with this processor.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

N/A,6/12/2003 9:31:46 PM

Ordered mine probably two weeks ago, the chip arrived in two days (all the way to the east coast, great job NewEgg) and I received the JIUHB 0312 DUT3C. Thus far I've got it running at 160*12.5 ~ 2GHz. I'm cooling mine with the Thermalright SLK800 and a small 60mm coolermaster fan. 50 degrees C under load. I'm running an Abit KR7A-Raid, with Crucial 256 Mb pc2100 and Samsung 256 Mb pc2100.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

gkline,6/12/2003 7:08:45 PM

What a deal. Bought a refurbished Abit KD7 and this chip with 512 megs Kingston DDR 2100. So nice and really very overclockable. My othe rig is a new Asus A7N8X DLX 400 Ultra with a 2500 Barton o/c to 2230. Point is this 1700 is probably the best bang for the buck out there. Get it before it goes!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Goku008,6/12/2003 3:20:13 PM

Well i got mine yesterday put it in my abit NF7-S v2.0 stuck 2 sticks of pc2100 crcual and now im runing at 210fsb stable and mem frequency at 400fsb im getting 3.1gb/sec bandwith on my memory just as good as my p4 granite bay mobo. All with stock voltages.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

lapianoman,6/10/2003 6:20:55 AM

I was so impressed with this CPU, I had to get another & build a better system. Instead of the Shuttle MN31N, I got an Epox 8RDA+, like SENster7. But Prime95 bombed at 2600+ level, so I set it back to 2400+ (166x12) Still very happy. Ordered last Thurs. & got it Monday. NewEgg comes thru yet again!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rehan,6/9/2003 9:06:29 PM

I have had this processor for 4 months now. NO PROBLEMS at all. Over clocked to 1.92 Ghz. Hey people I have a small request...PLEASE don't write a bad review about this processor. I think it's the best processor made by AMD so far concerning ovver clocking and overall performance.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mike,6/9/2003 12:32:26 PM

i`m very satisfied. I bought good computer for less then 500$

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TheGeekMistress,6/9/2003 9:34:27 AM

This chip, to say the least, is one impressive overclocker. I've got the TBred'B JIUHB DLT (1.5vcore defualt) box date 0310 WPMW XP1700+ and an Abit NF7-S v2.0 with 2x256 Geil DC-PC3500 Ultra Plat and i'm a very happy camper.

I'm cooling the cpu with the SubZero4G (which is quite impressive as well) and running it at 2566mhz (11.5x223 cas 2.0-2-3-3 nforce2) with 1.75vcore! w0w! th!5 5y5t3m i5 tW34k3D. My benchmarks in Sandra come in ALU=9599 / FPU=3862. These are comparative to the P4-3.06 on FPU and better than a SMP 2x3.06 P4 on the ALU! All for how much? lol. This is beating my P4-1.6a oc'd to 2.88GHz Intel rig. I guess it's time to concentrate on upgrading that one now, hehe. I'm looking at a nice new Abit IC7-G right now in fact.

Yah well, all i got to say is this is the fastest system this gurl's 3v3r 0wn3d. ...p34c3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SENster7,6/7/2003 2:26:54 PM

$42 for this 1700+, running this @ 166X12.5 on an Epox 8RDA+, which posts as 2600+. Temp is 36C with a $7 Speeze HSF and Artic Silver 3. Simply sweet, Newegg rules.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ZaP37,6/7/2003 2:02:06 AM

Got two, both DUT3C revision "B"s: a JIUHB 0311 and JIUHB 0312.

0312 tops out at about 2.1GHz, not bad (great overclock, but I'm just greedy)
0311 goes to 2.3GHz and probably could have gone higher!!

This is with Thermalright AX-7 heatsinks and 40CFM fans. Unfortunately I'm using dual-processor motherboard so I have to run them at the same speed, so they both are at 2.1GHz. Also, the motherboard doesn't support multipliers over 12.5 so I had to spend the day blowing out, painting, and repainting itsy-bitsy bridges. =(

Definitely the best price/performance CPU out there right now, and newegg ships very quickly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

N/A,6/6/2003 5:40:28 PM

got the tbred b dutc - running at 167x12.5 @ 1.6v
detects a 2600+, not bad for the low price!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frank,6/6/2003 5:03:33 PM

I'm pretty sure that mine unit is T-bred revision B. It's very easy to check this. Just check the CPUID. If CPUID=680, it is revision A. 681 is revision B. See the following document on Page 14.
http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/cont...docs/25703.pdf

Also, the Athlon XP Model 8 data sheet has the information regarding the core voltage of rev. A and B. See the following document on Page 22 (for CPUID 680, Rev.A) and Page 23 (Rev B, ID 681).
http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/cont...docs/25175.pdf

It seems that for XP 1700+ T-bred, REV. B has two Vcore version - 1.5V and 1.6V. The Rev.A 1700+ has only one 1.5 Volt Vcore version
. So, if your T-bred 1700+ has 1.6V default Vcore it should be Rev. B.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rio,6/6/2003 11:17:13 AM

It's all a LIE! AMD doesn't want you to believe this. This AIUHB DUTC3 "B" that supposedly is 266FSB is really, in fact, 333FSB. I took this out of the package and put it in the MB, set FSB to 333 with defualt voltage (1.60) and prime95 ran for 20+ hrs before I got sick of running it and turned it off. I'm sure it could be set to 400, but my MB is only an ASUS A7V333. This deal is so unfair to intel, that it makes me laugh out loud. This is the "10th Wonder of the World," and AMD has staked its claim to it! I'm buying some more.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

namek0,6/5/2003 9:46:21 PM

got a JIUHB0312XPMW B core!
as of last night I've got it to 2.1 ghz

newegg still kicks supreme XXX

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fulin,6/5/2003 8:18:02 PM

Combined with Asus A7V8x-X. Running at 2.04GB (170*12) under the default Vcore (1.6V). It's the best oberclockable processor since Celeron 300a.

Also, get fast service from Newegg! Thanks!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I've used other Adobe software without any problems so not sure what the issue would be here. I find AMD to be the best for graphics and video now and the KT400 chipset is standard now.

Hi Allen and Phil I dont want to keep bothering you guys but I was wondering what you guys thought about this? Should I go for 2 15" LCD's (about 410 for both) or go for the biggest single monitor say a 17", or 18, or maybe a 19 " if I can find one cheap enough ? I can afford to spend about 500.00 Thanks in advance

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Depends on the model of the processor. Most retail processors come locked. You can find more info at www.amdzone.com or www.overclockers.com
on various models of the XP3000+ that are unlocked. Also check with www.newegg.com and read the reviews of the XP3000+ they carry. They usually cater to the OC community and carry the unlocked versions.
