Default Force quit / Spinning ball

I finally upgraded my Mac Pro to Monterey. The problem I'm having is quitting Pro Tools. I just hangs up with spinning ball, I have to force quite. Any help would greatly be appreciated, thanks.

Sorry, nothing to help. Just saying that I had the same experience. I didn't fight it more than four hours, I bailed.

It's a pity too, because it took me days of screwing around with OCLP to get to the point of failure.

I'd made no efforts with anything other than Monty, so can't even say whether it's my incompetence, OCLP or Monty at fault.

Yeah after decade never having that issue with any program, all of a sudden something so standard on any program this is happening is crazy.

I'm sure it's not OCLP, since others are reporting on supported systems.

I'll kick it around on the Mac Forum and see what those geniuses can come up with.

Well if your Monterey version is qualified for PT 2023.9
Then the first thing I would try is trashing PT preferences

Monterey is qualified, although I'm running it on my beast 2010 Mac Pro running Opencore. So that might be a problem, although I read a few others on qualified systems are getting the same problem

I'll trash preferences and see if that cures it.

First time I ever experienced a program not shutting down. I guess there's a first time for everything.

Thanks for the tip.

I used DosDudes Catalina patcher on my 4.1 flashed to 5.1 and I get the occasional the PT not quitting. PT 2023.6 studio. Seems pretty random. Doesn't do this on the same session but a variety on sessions, sometimes the same one. This just might be a penalty we pay for using Ye Olde Cheesegrater. On my MBP 2020 Ventura 13.6.1, INTEL, the hang on quit rarely happens at all with the same version of PT.

Yeah these cheesegraters are hard to let go. Opencore will have a challenge now the Apple Silicon will phase out scripts for Intel. We are on borrowed time, but like many state, why fix when it ain't broke.

What's interesting is that I never encountered this going back to PT7.

I never had either!

Note that my Monty experience was on the same MP 4,1>5,1 that runs Mojave (no OCLP) and PT Studio 2021.6 ad 2020.12 without issue.

IMO, failing on Quit is "broke".

Do you mean the bug code ?, or the Avid Link popup ?
If Avid Link then that is simply a download link for PT and plugins (Note you don't need Avid Link , and can disable it opening ----in Mac OS >System Preferences >Log in Item's--- just uncheck or remove it.. Not sure why it was in console as it usually shows is an icon in the Finder tool bar right side

I have couple thoughts did you do a clean OS and PT install ? Also what OS version and PT version did you upgrade from ?
If it was before Catalina I think that is when the switch to 64 bit took place, and if you have any 3rd party plugins that are still 32 bit, that could be an issue
